Today Ellie and Brant went next door to Eleanor's 2nd birthday party. What a blast - kids everywhere, bubbles, toys and cupcakes! Brant said that Ellie was about to blow out Eleanor's candles when he scooped her up and she went into hysterics. The worst part is that another little girl blew out the candles for Eleanor so Ellie didn't even get to learn the right lesson. Apparently she also got whacked in the face with a plastic rake, but she managed to escape with minor scrapes and scratches. Good thing she's tougher than average...
My grandpa isn't doing too well...all symptoms point to liver cancer, but we are waiting for the results from the pathology lab. He had a liver biopsy last Wednesday, however the doctor's are fairly certain the large mass they can see with CT scans and MRI's is malignant...the biopsy will determine what type of cancer it is and how to proceed with treatment. So today Mom, Billy and I went out there to see him and try to convince him he needs more help than he thinks he does. The poor guy isn't very stable on his feet and has been falling in the middle of the night when he gets up to use the restroom. For the past 2 nights he has wound up calling 911 for help... He just doesn't want to give up his independence, not to mention the fact that he has always been quite frugal with his hard earned money, so he's not eager at the thought of getting in home help. We are all trying to be happy with the victories that have been achieved - at least Grandpa has given up the keys to his car.
Last week Brant's great aunt Reba Boren passed away. She was 86 years old and such a blessing to everyone who knew her. Her brownies were to die for, as was her smile and the warm hugs she passed out freely. She will be missed dearly.
