Wow - we have had a busy week. Brant is slammed at work, Ellie and I are in charge of Wayne - our neighbor's cat, while they're on vacation in San Francisco, and it is HOT. Finally hot here...I know, not as hot as the rest of the country, but people don't have air conditioning here! At least most people don't - the theory is that you should get an ocean breeze and that should cool you off enough. Hogwash - that's what I say about that!
Last night we went to a free concert in the park. I can't believe we've lived here this long and never gone before! What a blast. Ellie danced the whole time and was exhausted by the end. She also got a donut, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She scarfed it down, but right before she inhaled the last bite she said "Daddy, so you want a bite?" Very sweet. We also found out that Ellie is not big enough for big kid swings. She still needs to be in the ones for little kiddo's, so she can't jump out! She got scared mid-swing and decided to bail out...thank goodness for astroturf...
The big girl bed is more of a struggle now than it was the first few nights. Regularly we have a little visitor appear after we've put her to bed, to tell us that she needs a drink of water, or that she's hot. She refuses to sleep under the sheet, only under the quilt. Whatever - we've chosen not to fight that battle right now. Under the quilt it is. Or on top of it when she's hot. And she likes to sleep at the foot of her bed because she says it's cooler down there...it's just another excuse, but if it keeps her in the bed, that is also fine with me. The biggest adjustment for all of us is that she can get out of bed when she wakes up in the morning. Hence the 7am Sunday morning post. She came in at 6am this morning, and doesn't understand the concept of going back to bed. I even tried getting into her bed with her, but that only lasted 10minutes.
Here are some of her funnies from this week:
The fireworks are growling (she said this when watching 4th of July fireworks)
