Offer #2

We have big news...we're currently in "multiple counter offer" with the seller for a 3bedroom, 2 bath house right here in South Park, the neighborhood we've lived in for 5 years and have come to know and love! And - this house is less than 100yards from the charter elementary school that we are planning to send Ellie to. Now - that being said, the charter school is based on a lottery system and under no obligation to give neighborhood kids preference, but nonetheless, it would be fabulously convenient! We sign the counter offer this morning, and should know something by Monday evening. Phew - this house hunting and offer writing business is stressful out here in the great state of California. Poor Brant hasn't slept well in quite a while and is just flat out exhausted.

Ellie has been the best little house hunter. Brant and I only went once without her - the rest of the time she's been right along side us, nosing around people's things with the best of them. For the most part she listens very well when we're out in public, thank goodness. Otherwise I don't think it would work at all...It also helps a lot that our real estate agent is a woman we know through daycare. She has a 5 year old little boy and an 8 month old daughter, so she is comfortable with the intricacies of a 3 year old.

Last night we went to another free concert in the park, played and danced until we were all exhausted. Sara, Aaron and Ada were supposed to join us, but poor Ada has some kind of a stomach bug and they had to skip it. Ellie's funny because when we told her that Ada wasn't coming because she didn't feel good, Ellie said "then she should go to the doctor and get her medicine!" (arms folded in a very bossy way)

Here are a few of the things Ellie has been entertaining us with lately:
* One of the songs that Ellie requests before bedtime is Amazing Grace. She learned the words by listening to me sing it - and she insists these are the correct words. In fact, if I say the words differently, we have to go back and sing the whole song over again... "I once was lost, but now am found, was BLONDE, but now I see" She's convinced it's blonde instead of blind - I think it's because she can't really grasp what being blind is. Nonetheless, I think it's hysterical.
* Ellie went into the bathroom the other day and said to Brant "Daddy - this toilet seat is up. How did it get that way?" and Brant responded "I don't know sweetie" and Ellie says "Daddy - you are the only one here who peepee's like a boy, so you must have done it. Don't do it again please"
* The house we are trying to buy right now is under the landing pattern for the San Diego airport (all of South Park is, but this house is closer than where we're living right now). This was a topic of discussion when we were there the other night trying to decide if we wanted to write an offer. Ellie started running through the house with her arms out like an airplane saying "we're landing! we're landing!"
* When we're in a hurry to bathe Ellie, I often give her a "shower-bath" which really means that she gets a shower. She loves to wear the shower cap, which she calls the "shower top" - here's a picture of her being silly!

Hope everyone has a great week. We are going to rest today, hopefully, and get ready for another week in the game they call life!
