This weekend we had family fun time. Saturday evening we went to In-n-Out for hamburgers, and there were 2 couples sitting in the booth next to us. Ellie could see them through the glass partition and she was "flirting" with one of the men. She talked and played with him for about 3 minutes, then when she was through and wanted to stop, he kept waving at her and looking at her. She turned to me and said very seriously, "Momma - that man is staring at me!" I tried hard not to laugh, but couldn't help it. We just told her to smile at him and he'd stop looking at her...I guess it's an early lesson in life for her to learn.

After dinner we went to the Christmas tree lot and boy did she have fun. We chose our first live Christmas tree - it's the first live tree Brant has ever had in his life! She was so excited to see all the trees, and then was very concerned when "the man" took our tree to trim the bottom branches off. On the way home we drove through our neighborhood to see Christmas lights. We stopped at Grant's to get dessert, and Santa was waiting to see Ellie! She was excited to see him, but didn't know what to say when he asked her what she wanted for Christmas. She wound up telling him that she wanted Baby Jesus for Christmas, which is so sweet. He told her that she was a smart girl and that's what the season was all about! By the way - the pictures below were not taken in a bar, despite the many bottles of wine behind Ellie. Our neighborhood deli/coffee spot also has a large selection of wine's and since it was cold we had to eat our dessert inside at the tables - that just happened to be the backdrop!

Sunday we kind of loafed around in the morning, then took Ellie to actually get her picture taken with Santa at the neighborhood children's store. She wasn't too keen on it - she told us she already saw Santa and didn't want to see him again. We convinced her we were just going to the toy store to get a present for Baby Brenner, and then Santa convinced her to sit on his lap by giving her a peppermint candy. This year was a much better experience than last year when I wound up sitting on Santa's lap with Ellie...
Sunday night we turned on the Christmas music and decorated the tree. What an experience...I'm way too much of a perfectionist to have a 2 year old help with the decorating. Or at least it started out that way...when I was getting frustrated that she just wanted to hold all the ornaments and then put them all in the same spot on the tree (at the bottom - eye level for her) Brant said "Danielle - she's 2 years old. She's never decorated a tree before!" Thank goodness for Brant being so grounded - that made me laugh and realize how ridiculous I was being! Enjoy the photo's and have a great week everyone!
